I apologize for the ?compressed? version of this report, but we have limited space on this site. If you would like the original report please email me at dsutton@stny.com.......PAINTED POST LIONS CLUB 2006 YEAR END REPORT SEPTEMBER 2006 ??? The Painted Post Lions Club got off to a great start in 2006. To make that happen took planning which started in September 2005. The core group convened to set out the agenda for the year. As you know a Board of Directors is an essential part of a club, giving it direction, organization and leadership. ??? An election for a slate of officers was held in March 2006. We had our regular monthly meeting, and afterwards had election proceedings. We started with the President and worked our way through the positions. Voting was done by show of hands, and the outgoing President was the moderator and scrutinizer. President: Dave Sutton , Past President: Nancy Doud, Treasurer: PDG Jim Killam, Secretary: Sandy Owens, Membership: Tony Bacalles, 2nd Yr Director: Jimmy Williams. 1st Yr Director: Myron Crispino ??.. On Dec 24th we lost our faithful member Mary Kosty to her battle with cancer. Lion Mary was a devoted Lion who brought much to our club in the ways of talent, energy and a desire to serve. She was employed with The Leader as manager of classifieds for 27 years and as director of advertising, and as the promotional and marketing director at Watson Homestead. Lion Mary will be missed greatly! ???.. 2006 CLUB ACTIVITIES - Of our 21 members we have ~ 10 people form a core group upon whom we depend for help and regular participation in our activities and fundraisers. We have another 2-3 who come and go, but have conditions where they are unable to attend regularly. A special thanks to Past President Lion Nancy Doud and others who helped make this past year a great success??.. Would you believe we nearly DOUBLED last year?s figures! ? sponsors were: AUSTIN CONSTRUCTION, CORNING INC, THE HILLIARD CORPORATION, FIRST HERITAGE FEDERAL CREDIT UNION, PIPER INSURANCE, PAINTED POST HOLIDAY INN, THE HAMPTON INN, HAIRCOLOR MASTERS, WEGMANS, PFUNTNER GROUP RADIO STATIONS. In addition, we would like to thank all of the businesses that contributed to our door prizes (way to go Lion Liz Lewis) including The Leader and Star Gazette for their promotion of our event ??.October- 1. A food drive (new this year thanks to Lion Jimmy Williams) was held at Walmart in Gang Mills in conjunction with Chilson-Wilcox Inc. www.chilsonwilcox.com. A sincere thanks go out to those that went out of their way during a very busy time of year to collect items (339) for the PP Food Pantry. It is these small but thoughtful actions that really can make a difference in our community. By participating in these activities, we help promote and increase visibility of our own club and the Lionism movement. (10 in attendance)?? December- 1. Our club, DG, Sight Walk sponsors, family and friends enjoyed an evening of fun and celebration at our annual Christmas Party. It was once again held at the Central Restaurant in Painted Post, chaired by Lions Darcy Sutton, Liz Lewis & Sandy Owens (10 club members in attendance)?? OUR OUTLOOK FOR 2007:?.. 2006 was an organized and structured year for the club where we accomplished an exceptional amount of projects and activities. We achieved balance, for the most part, between club service and social activities. Our projects were on the smaller, simpler side due to our limited resources. When we grow and become stronger we will be able to tackle larger projects. But for now, it is important to strengthen our planning, organizing, coordinating, and carrying out of our projects. In 2007 it is also important to increase our membership and mobilize more members to help at every level of our events. This will bring the workload per person down to more realistic levels. Within the first few weeks of 2007 a proposed project and activity plan will be presented to the club for inputs and approval ??. CONCLUSION?? All Lions Clubs can play an important role in assisting and promoting service to Lionism, not only in our own club, but also around the Southern Tier of New York. It has been very encouraging, on a couple of occasions, for our Club to work with the Corning Lions Club in fundraising and awareness activities. This is an excellent way to show support for Lionism. It would be great if once again next year we could work on the sharing of our resources and maybe extend the offer to other clubs. By this I mean that in order to better serve our community and our district, it could be useful and appreciated that other clubs be called upon to assist fellow Lions in their activities, and visa versa, the Lions be called upon to assist others clubs in their activities. It is important to recognize that we (Painted Post Lions) have limited fundraising potential within our limited membership. It would be nice if together we could establish a protocol when it comes to the ?best? use of these two resources. That way, with brainstorming and planning activities, the District Governor?s staff knows where the different clubs stand, what resources they can ask for, and what limitations may exist??.. ???..Respectfully submitted on 01-04-07 by David W. Sutton, President - Painted Post Lions Club
